Take this full-day tour to see 2 of North Vietnam’s most iconic structures. You will head north from Ho Chi Minh City to the Great Holy See Temple at Tây Ninh, before touring the legendary Cu Chi Tunnels of the Viet Cong.

The Great Holy See Temple was built in 1926 as the first temple and Holy See of the Cao Dai faith. Considered one of the most remarkable structures in all of Southeast Asia, it acts as the headquarters of this unique sect, which is a hybrid of Buddhism, Christianity and Confucianism.

Look out for the all-seeing holy eye, the official symbol of Cao Dai, located above the temple entrance. Then attend the extravagant midday ceremony to witness how the Cao Dai followers conduct daily mass.

After lunch, you will proceed to Cu Chi to explore the amazing site where the Viet Cong hid during the Vietnam War. It is now a popular spot for both Vietnamese and foreign tourists and includes a network of over 120 miles (200 kilometers) of tunnels that became legendary for their vital role in the Vietnam War.

In their heyday, the tunnels were functioning underground cities, including numerous trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers and kitchens.

There is plenty of evidence of the fierce battle that took place during the 1960s when Cu Chi was a "Free Target Zone". You can watch a short introductory video that shows how the tunnels were constructed, before entering the tunnels themselves.

Spend an hour exploring the tunnels. Afterwards you will pause for tea and cassava, typical guerrilla food during wartime.
